on my mind...

i don't have much else on my mind today other than my mom...

just within the last week she has been dealing with a sudden onset 

of extremely high blood pressure levels, also resulting in low sodium levels.

this has landed her in urgent care once & now the er for the second time in under a week.

she has just been admitted into the hospital tonight and will stay for an undetermined amount of time until they find out why she is experiencing these problems.

to say the least, i am concerned.

my mom is one of the healthiest people i know...

she has always been my inspiration for being healthy & fit. 

regular exercise & nutritious eating habits are simply a way of life for her...

so these sudden health problems are very puzzling & have all of us worried.

i hate being so far away in a moment like this...

i am incredibly close to my mom & 

love her more than anything i type here could ever truly express.

i trust in god & have faith that she will be fine...

the trouble is that the doctors have been unsuccessful 

at identifying the reason why she is experiencing these problems.

i pray that all will go well & that they will find the reasons behind it all soon

so that she can get back onto living her happy, healthy life.

i also pray that it doesn't come to it, but if anything worsens

i will be hopping on the next jet plane out to san diego.

i am sorry to not deliver a cheery post today,

but as you could imagine...

my mind is a bit preoccupied at the moment.

WEDnesday : a rose by any other name...

hello, my loves!

i am in a bit of a pickle.

silly me didn't really put too much thought 

into the wedding date chosen vs. the flowers available at that time.

not that it is a huge deal because flowers are always gorgeous...

but it is such a bummer when you learn that you can't have

lush peonies or frilly ranunculas.

my florist is currently on maternity leave,

so i am trying to do my own research.

i may have found a flower that i love,

but will need to confirm with her that they are 

available at the time of our event.

never in a million years would i have imagined having roses at my wedding...

though i think they are lovely, they have never particularly been my favorite.

however, after doing a little research, i was stunned with how many

different varietals there are! 

i might be in love ;)

i was especially taken by the bourbon roses, gallica roses 

& my absolute favorite: the david austin english garden rose

{best represented in the first image}...soooooooo pretty!!!

are there any previous august brides out there? 

or gardeners?

any advice on other flowers available in august??!!

bonjour, lovelies! 

did you enjoy your weekend as much as i did mine?!

call me crazy, but i am really thinking that 3 day weekends should be the norm!

adding that one extra day sure makes a huge difference.

here are some bits of my life i took {visual} note on over the weekend...

my fiance was out of town all weekend, so i had a lot of me time...

though i missed him very much, i am not complaining at all that i got to spoil myself a bit ;)

:: friday ::

a run around the lake in the morning,

followed by yoga

a mani / pedi in the afternoon,

following by a spot of shopping...

found a fabulous dress for my palm springs bachelorette at the end of june!

{will share photos of the dress closer to the trip!}

happy hour w/ a favorite friend at one of my top favorite seattle spots:

the pink door,

followed by a spontaneous cabaret show @ the can can 

{another seattle favorite}

:: saturday ::

a workout in the morning, 

followed by typical saturday chores {not so exciting} in the afternoon

had a little dinner & movie date night, a la moi ;)

i kept it romantic with peonies & candlelight...ha! 

i watched w.e. ~ have you seen/heard??!!

wow!!! it was fantastic {bravo, madonna!}

it was such an incredible story about love & passion, 

i just had to call my fiance right after and get all mushy about how much i love him!

{seriously, i am just one big romantic...can't help it}

:: sunday ::

honestly, this was just one big lazy day...

i treated myself to doughnuts & coffee for breakfast,

& watched movies all day ~

steel magnolias, mystic pizza & an education

it was perfect.

then, picked up my boy from the airport...hooray!

cheers to getting through this week & onto another 3 day weekend!

a quick get-a-way

happy friday, lovelies!!!

actually, yesterday was my friday...

i put in some extra time over this last week, 

so i am extending my weekend now :)

last weekend, i decided that dan & i needed a quick, spontaneous get-a-away.

so, we ended up pitching a tent for the night at deception pass...

a gorgeous spot that is only about an hour & a half away from us.

the weekend was perfect...

we cooked up some delicious meals...

surf & turf for dinner w/ sweet potatoes & asparagus w/ sangria

lox bagels & grilled peaches for breakfast w/ mimosas

a meat, cheese & olive platter for lunch w/ more sangria :)

i don't mess around when it comes to camping...we don't completely "glamp",

but i do like to bring real wine glasses & dishes, cook tasty meals & make sangria...

oh, and i do like when there are restrooms nearby ;)

make fun of me if you will, but that is how camping is the most fun for me!

i like to make it festive!

aren't our trail shoes sexy??!! haahaa :D

& isn't that little chipmunk just the cutest?!

we had knocked over a glass of sangria at one point 

& he kept coming back to collect the booze-infused fruits.

he especially loved the blueberries ;)

are you a fan of camping at all.

i never thought i would even say that i like it...

but now i truly love it!

well, today is certainly no exception!

in fact, i am loving every color under the sun :)

i just can't help but love today's color palette...

the combination screams summer to me!

and with this weather that feels very much like summer,

all i want is to make fresh squeezed lemon cocktail spritzers garnished with mint.

ahhhh! sounds so refreshing, doesn't it just?!

hmmm...now if only i had a proper garden...

how has your week been?

it has been another long & crazy one here 

{it's kind of the norm these days!}

& i am just so excited for this weekend...

especially because it is due to be in the mid to high 70s!!!

{FINALLY!}

you had better believe i will be there again come this saturday or sunday!

i wish i lived closer to my mom...

if so, i would absolutely be spending the whole weekend with her :)

but the distance between seattle & san diego is keeping us apart this weekend :(
