head over wellies in love...

april is not quite here yet,
but the showers are making their presence known already...
go figure...that is seattle for you :)
it is funny how i can despise the rain one day
and then be head over heels wellies in love with it the next...
to tell the truth, i am always happier about it when i have my rain boots on ;)

what are you up to this weekend?
i am laying low & looking very forward to it!
whatever you do, enjoy!!!

hello friends!
i am so excited about today's Q&A with
sarah from the beautiful blog, high styling!
sarah is one of the most stylish ladies i know...
she is also one of the coolest!
she is the queen of treasures...
always finding the most incredible pieces at estate sales & flea markets...
and we aren't just talking knick-knacks...we are talking majors! like furniture & art!!!
she also is a wonderful stylist...
i just love seeing her color collective link ups :)
SO, what i am really saying here is that sarah is one awesome lady
and if you don't know her yet, you must!
and if you already know her, then here's a chance to learn a little more...
welcome, sarah!!!

i am so jealous of all of the travels!!! i am itching for a trip somewhere far, far away!!!
and i absolutely love what inspires sarah in her travels...
"...the 'soul' of a place and the energy of its people..."
those words are just beautiful & perfect...i so feel this about traveling.

thank you so much, sarah, for participating in this Q&A series!!!
i loved getting to know you a little better :)

make sure you visit sarah's inspirational blog here!

have a lovely day!

WEDnesday : the food!

bonjour, my loves!
happy WEDnesday :)

last weekend was filled with wedding to-dos, food & lots of wine!
i went back to our wedding venue with my mom, maid of honor and my cousin {one of my bridesmaids}
to meet some of the vendors in person,
iron out some important detail questions & eat a lot of cake!
{cake tasting was just one of those things i could not fathom missing!!!}

my brain is now on overload with the reality sinking in of being 4 months away from the big day...eek!
after meeting my vendors, though, i am feeling much more at ease and have faith that they will
all pull everything together beautifully & perfectly :)
{a BIG leap in the right direction!!!}

we were so busy running from appointment to appointment that my photo taking was completely lame :(
i did manage to capture some of our dinner at the restaurant that is catering our event!
i have to say - it was so tough for me to choose food over the phone
{a long distance wedding is much more tough than i ever imagined!}
but with the help of my amazing coordinator and yelp :) i chose a caterer that seemed perfect for us...
they source nearly all of their food from their own farm and focus on organic, fresh foods...
if it can't come from their farm {i.e. halibut}, they source it locally.
well, let me tell you...we made the 100% perfect decision!!!
i still can not stop thinking about the dinner we enjoyed!
meals are prepared seasonally, so while the items that we ate
will not be exactly what is served at the wedding...
i left with a perfect taste in my mouth and no worries that our meal will be anything short of scrumptious!

we shared items off the menu - one appetizer, one wood fired pizza, one salad & one entree...
every item we ordered had us mmming & awwing throughout the entire dinner!
the desserts were so incredible that i reconsidered traditional wedding cake altogether...but now i have decided that we will just have a variety of cake & other desserts :)
see those strawberry & chocolate numbers?! yep, they'll be making an appearance at our wedding!
{and something tells me that they will be making a quick disappearing act as well!}

this is what we decided on for our wedding menu...
the goal of our entire event is to make it feel like one big, intimate dinner party...
making it fun & interactive for our guests...
so for the entrees, we are going family style!

and just for fun, i thought i would help set the tone for you
by showing inspirations for the look & feel of the dining tables :)
{that is really "our" vineyard!}

i can't wait to see everything begin to come to life!!!
now, that pretty much all major to-dos are squared away,
i can focus on decor! my favorite part :)
{if you couldn't guess that already!}

what was / is / will be your favorite part of the wedding planning?!

color collective : white & gold

i am officially back :)
i can't wait to share all about my wedding & wine adventures from last weekend!!!
that will be featured tomorrow!
in the meantime, it's tuesday...so you know what that means...
color collective times :)
today, we focus on white...which is truly the blend of all colors.
& to add a little glitz, gold is making an appearance as well!

white & gold is absolutely one of my favorite combos for interior decor...
one day
{once i start to slip gold into our home, sneaking it by the future hubby little by little}
this combo will be the star palette of our home :)
the fiance really does not care for gold, but of course he trusts my style...
it will just take a little convincing ;)

what do you think of white & gold?

this just in: adorable bicycle photo inspires spring style

Hello there!
I'm Emily from Running in Heels, it's so nice to meet all you lovely Chartreuse and a Twist readers.
When Brynn asked me to guest post about style, I was super thrilled and admittedly, a bit anxious. There are so many wonderful outfits for spring that I couldn't figure out exactly where to go with my layout.

In my endless blog/magazine/shopping website/pinterest searching, I ended up coming back to a few beautiful photos over and over again that really caught my eye.I started thinking about how style inspiration is everywhere, anywhere, and all around. Sometimes, it's colors together that just perfectly go, other times it's textures that surprisingly compliment each other, an old photo, or a spark outside that makes your heart go.

So today I give you this: My spring outfits from a bicycle full of flowers, and the inside of a geode.

I hope you enjoy my outfit fun this beautiful day, and remember to look for inspiration and creation opportunities in some random places in your life this spring.

and these ladies are well worth it!!!}

alexa! #1 - umm, can i come to your parents home for a spaghetti & meatball dinner sometime???!!! seriously one of my all time favorite meals! & #2 - i would love to read your illustrated story!!!

color collective : welcome spring!

hello dahhhlings!
happy color collective tuesday :)
are you all as excited as i am
that it is officially {as of 1:14 am this morning, edt} SPRING!!!
yes, i am such a dork...i had to google it to make sure when it was official!
so, what better way to kick off the season we have all been waiting so long for,
than to dedicate today's color collective to spring's favorite palette...
pastels!

{all images are copyright of me}

my inspiration all started with the image above...
i took this image probably 5 years ago and had it blown up onto a 24x36 stretched canvas.
it hangs in my living room and is a beautiful reminder of one of my absolute
favorite things about spring...
the cherry blossoms.
these beautiful ladies are the first sign of spring here in seattle...
they are a bloomin' before anything else!
and when set against a beautiful blue sky,
the pale pink cotton candy-esque floral puffs look even more lovely!

what is your first sign of spring?

make sure you check out everyone's color collective post who links up below!!!
these ladies do an amazing job with their boards!

have a happy first day of spring :)

take note : my weekend

hello friends :)
i just want to - first of all - say hello to all of the new faces!!! welcome :)
i kind of did a disappearing act here on friday {busy girl}...
i will be by soon to meet each of you, if i haven't yet, soon!

how was your weekend?
mine was much busier than anticipated,
and there was lots of picture taking!
so, today's take note is all about what i did from thursday through the weekend...

{all images are my own, except save water drink champagne}

thursday
was a big inspiration day for my work team...
we went to the museum, pike place market, and just all around downtown seattle.
my favorite room/installation at the museum was this awesome 1970s soul room...
i seriously wanted it to be my living room - there was even a cut-out in the wall to hold records perfectly!
friday night
was girls night...we ate a scrumptious bbq feast at a new restaurant
called bitterroot...note: i would have taken a photo of our dessert {caramel coffee bread pudding topped with bacon bits!} but it was devoured within 2 minutes...it was THAT good!
saturday
i got my haircut and then took a walk around the neighborhood...the weather was so nice
{chilly, but sunny & gorgeous!}...i took a gazillion shots of the beautiful blooming nature around me :)
it was kind of a perfect day!
sunday
was all about getting some wedding to-dos done...including a decor project
that i hope to share on this wedding wednesday!!!

what did you do over the weekend?

have a lovely day :)

i must be in the spirit of st. patty's day :)

i was daydreaming of colorful wedding gowns
and the image of this lovely green gown i came across eons ago struck a chord!
this is not new news...it is very possible that you have seen these photos on pinterest or
around the blogosphere {i think i have even used one of the photos for a post at some point!}
is it not just outrageously dreamy??!!

{ photography by : chloé of caught the light  /  images via : 100 layer cake  /  photoshop edits by me}

the gorgeous bride changed out of her lovely white valentino gown
into this stunning green number for the reception.
all i can say is that my jaw is on the ground. period.

color collective : green, laddy!

hello friends :)
i definitely have a green theme going on this week!
yesterday was actually unintentional...today is intentional...
i think i may just keep this going in honor of st. patrick's day!
we did green in the beginning days of color collective,
but couldn't help but take the opportunity to go at it again
to celebrate one of the most festive holidays of the year!

{all images are my own, except the 4 leaf clovers above. image found here / original source unknown}

slight disclaimer: you'll have to excuse my moody greens...it is not my intention...
it is just what happens when my seattle days are dark & gray...this is the only natural light i have to work with at the moment ;)

each week i get so excited to see some of my favorite bloggers link up...as well as some new faces :)
make sure you see below to visit everyone who is linking up for color collective this week!
