thrifty niftyness

hello, everyone!

how are you today?

surviving the week, i hope :) 

we are almost there...the weekend is so close...hooray!

so, as some of you may recall, i decided to make thursdays a diy day...

where i was choosing certain projects to complete and share with you...

well, true to form, i bit off more than i could chew

{not to mention that work has become more insane than before...

didn't think that could be possible...but it is}

SO...as much as i really want to do this series,

i have to learn to  say when i have over-committed 

and will not be able to deliver awesome results...

so hold tight on that one {it will come one day!!!}

in the meantime, i hope to throw in a random diy every so often

SO...i came up with something equally fun 

{well, i think it is equally fun!} for a thursday theme...

to follow in the footsteps of one of my favorite momma's

i thought that i would share with you some of my favorite thrifted finds :)

i LOVE thrifting!!! flea markets, yard sales, thrift shops... you name it!

last weekend, i had a hay day and found some pretty amazing steals!

{i have these grayish lavender walls that make the photo color look off...

that and i need to invest in a nice camera! the iPhone can't really do it all...just almost!}

that singer sewing table is by far the biggest steal! 

i couldn't believe it... i got that and the filing cabinets 

at a yard sale 2 doors down from my place!!!

WEDnesday : the men {groomsmen, that is!}

hello, loves ;)

happy wednesday to you all!

{wow! already half way through the week...can you believe it?!}

so, i have so far been very decisive with my wedding details...

however there are 2 major things that i am struggling with...

bridesmaids & groomsmen attire

i have ideas around what i want, but needed to dive more into it...

so, last sunday i had a phone/internet date with my bestie, erika

{a.k.a. maid of honor}

i was able to sort out all sorts of things...

not necessarily final decisions, but narrowing ideas around this & that.

so, here are some styles i am absolutely loving for the men...

i have narrowed my absolute favorites to the guys in denim {so cute!}

and the rolled khakis w/ suspenders

tuesday post deux : let's catch up

hello again, lovelies :)

i just thought that i would

put together a little sneek peak

at some of the things that have been 

keeping me busy, busy over the last month {or so}...

random projects ~ LOTS of eating ~ an all-nighter @ work ~ friends in town ~ 

tours of my neighborhood {i still owe all of you a tour!} ~ dancing ~ 

bicycle rides {i am even riding to work on really nice days!} ~

on a quick trip to portland 

{really just to see beirut...who were INCREDIBLE!!!}

we stumbled across the most adorable creperie, le happy...with connect 4 and all :)

i am now realizing you might not be able to read what i circled... 

it is the menu @ le happy, where there are all sorts of scrumptious crepes...

including one called...

 le trash blanc - bacon & cheddar $6 with a Pabst Blue Ribbon $7.50

how great is that???!!! so funny ;)

drove back to seattle directly after portland to then wake up the next morning 

and head to whidbey island to celebrate a friend's 30th birthday!

~

oh! and i have started reading the anthropology of an american girl, by hilary thayer hamann

...so far, i am absolutely loving it! her descriptive writing is entirely captivating...

okay, friends...

here i am...back in action {for really reals this time, promise!}

i apologize for the false alarm last week...

i don't want to make a million excuses...

let's just say that although i was back in the saddle 

and feeling very inspired & excited...

my day work kept me a bit busier & exhausted than i had hoped.

i just want to say again how much i appreciate all of you 

and your support and understanding...

you all mean a ton to me!

hello, friends!!!

ahhh...it feels good to be back : )

how was your weekend? 

i hope you got to enjoy some sunshine and nice times!

i had a whirlwind of a fantastic weekend : ) 

{still waiting on some photos from a friend and then i'll get some shots of my weekend up!}

thank you all so, so much for your support and awesome words on my hiatus explanation : ) 

they truly make my day so much brighter!

i do not at all wish the creative blues upon anyone...

but it is always so nice to hear that you are not alone in experiencing this type of situation.

i am happy to report that the hiatus did just the trick in kicking those creative blues butt!

i am feeling refreshed, inspired & ready to roar!!!

so, 

let's get straight to color crushing...

a couple of weeks ago, i asked what colors some of you might be crushing on...

well, rebecca from a daily something 

{if you don't know her yet, you should stop by and say hello!}

says that she has been crushing on camel with gold or neon...

so, in honor of her crush, i put together a little board that incorporates all 3 elements.

i chose camel, gold & citron.

i am absolutely loving what these colors do together!

so chic and sophisticated, but with a fun twist.

hiatus {happily interrupted}

hello, loves!!! 

you may have noticed that i have been on a bit of a blogging hiatus this week...

my apologies for no forewarning on this...but, honestly, i did not know this would be the case.

well, guess what??  i am officially interrupting the hiatus! 

i have been feeling especially, creatively blue this week...a bit like writer's block, i suppose.

do you ever feel this way?

sometimes it is unexplained...but for me, i know exactly why this time.

i really think that i am starting to have the "oh my goodness, i am turning 30 soon" thoughts...

{which to me feels strange because i am typically such an "age is just a number" kind of girl}

which include things like..."am i living and doing things in my life to the fullest?", 

"am i accomplishing the things that i want to accomplish at this point in my life?"

"how in the world do i create more balance in my life?"

{just to name a few}

so, needless to say, i have had a lot on my mind lately...

let alone everyday life AND planning a wedding...

c'est la vie...

you roll with the punches, right?! RIGHT : )

don't get me wrong...

i LOVE my life and am grateful for every person and thing i have in it...

i am thankful for this fantastic blogging world that i feel so lucky to be a part of...

to get to meet all of you lovelies...i am building friendships that i would have otherwise 

never known were possible! 

i thank you all for your support and love...you are all so talented and inspire me daily : )

i will continue on this hiatus through the weekend and {most likely} monday because i have a very packed & crazy weekend ahead!!! 

dan & i are driving to portland friday afternoon to see beirut {YIPPPEEEE!!!!!}

and then turning immediately back to seattle to catch some zzzzzs...

to wake up early saturday to catch a ferry to whidbey island {where we are renting a house with friends} to celebrate our friend jessica's 30th : )

so, it is safest for me to say that i will see you all tuesday!

{i will be refreshed and ready to hit the blogging world...that i so love...once again!}

color crushing : a sunwashed palette

hello, everyone!

i missed you all very much :)

i hope you are having a lovely start to your week...

my {awesome} crazy week 

turned into a crazy {as usual} working monday...

but, i am here now, one of my very favorite places...the blogging world :)

friday ~ 

took it easy...i was a sleepy, sleepy girl! {long weeks will take that toll!}

saturday ~

 fun projects with my friend, tarah  /  

played {my favorite role} hostess with the mostest for a new friend {via couchsurfing} from germany, ann-katrin {photographer of all above photos} / 

came across a random couch on the sidewalk...too perfect for a photo for couchsurfing! /

drank some delicious beer {as well as some not so delicious beer} / 

deeeelicious mexican food for dinner 

sunday ~ 

walked out the door to a crazy, drizzly, gray autumn kind of day /

 had a fantastic brunch at a neighborhood brunch fave - hunger / 

shopped the sunday market / 

toured my neighborhood {acting as tour guide for ann-katrin} / 

photoshoot with my cat, mazzy /  

walked back home in fantastic, warm & sunny summer weather 

{the saying in seattle goes: "if you don't like the weather, just wait 10 minutes"...it changes that fast!}

ended my day with some blt sandwiches w/ avocado & a little mad men with my love :)

psst! these photos make me realize that i need to properly introduce you to my neighborhood!

{because i love it sooooooooooo much!}
