grab-bag fridays: vol. 1

bonjour, jolies!!!

{don't know that this technically translates as i want it to, but i'm going with it anyways!}

so, as mentioned yesterday...

with an approaching blogiversary, 

i am looking at making a few fun updates to the ol' blog!

{i have been feeling so inspired about the diy projects...

i think i decided which one!!!}

i have decided that in order to stay consistent with my friday posts,

i need to keep it simple...at least just for now, until life quiets down a bit :)

so, fridays on chartreuse & a twist will be one to a few photos and little to no words,

maybe based on one lovely topic or it may be random...a bit of a grab bag so to speak :)

you never know what you may get...

but i can assure you  that it will be pure eye candy!!!

collections : wall projects

hello, hello!

how is everyone today?

so, in about a month and a half, i will be having my 1st blogiversary...
which seems crazy!
my, how fast the time has flown!!!
over this time, i have transitioned in the style and types of posts,
trying out new ideas, testing the waters with what all of you enjoy
as well as finding topics that challenge me and help me grow in my creativity.
i am making it a goal to land on some solid, sustainable daily post themes
by the beginning of my 2nd year.
I plan on continuing with color crushing Tuesdays & WEDnesdays,
and I enjoy doing weekend recaps on Mondays.
I am wanting to hear from all of you, though...
my very important readers. You inspire me :)
I am curious to know what you might want to see more of???

so, here is a new thought that just came to me for thursdays...
i have been doing a "collections" series on thursdays,
but as of recent i have really been feeling the need for
filling the creative gap just a little bit fuller.
i am using this post to transition thursday collections into
thursday to-do's.
i have quite a large "my to-do" pinboard on pinterest...
there are so many projects that i want to do,
but all i ever seem to actually do is pin them, and stare at them...
and wish that i would just do them!
so, this is a way to fill that creative gap & hold myself a little more accountable.

today's post is a collection of some projects
that i would like to accomplish in the near future...
next week i will post the first project that i plan on working on,
and then the week following that,
i would post photos of the finished project and a recap.
{now, if it is a bigger, longer project then it may have to change a bit}
i would also like to feature some of my own projects & how-tos
{remember the card i made on this post? i still plan on featuring the how-to!}
so, what do you think?

i have managed to collect a lot of "wall projects" on my to-do list,
because i have A LOT of walls in need of some major love!
i love each and every one of the ideas above and want to re-create my own version of each.
i am not sure which i will start with, but we will all find out next week!!!

Hello!  I’m Tamra from walks with Bella and I am super excited 

to be blog swapping with Brynn from Chartreuse and Twist today.  

Brynn and I were instant blog friends and sometimes wonder if we are in any way related. 

At a recent skype date we discussed our shared passion for all things events and decided to do blog swap for a bridal shower, which is fitting because the lovely Brynn will be celebrating her nuptials next year. 

I went with the Lingerie Shower theme and gave it a shabby chic touch.  

This kind of shower would be thrown by the brides friends and/or bridesmaids 

and would be an intimate backyard type setting during lunch that would allow

 the guests chat all day, drink tasty beverages, toast and possibly roast the bride as well.  

Most importantly, it would be a fun atmosphere full of laughs.  

As former brides know, laughing and spending time with friends is 

the best remedy to wedding stress.

it has just been one of those crazy weeks...

how are you today?

so, many of you know by now that i have HUGE love for the early 60s

but i am pretty sure that i have an equal amount of love for the 20s

{i think i just have a thing for the progressive - and stylish - eras}

what is it about the 20s that is just so cool?

WEDnesday : dress meets invite

{wow...really??? can you believe that we are half way through the week already?!}

i am going to keep it very short & sweet today...

i have just worked some super crazy hours
{as in - been up all night and am just now getting to bed at, oh, 8:30 in morning}
 so i am in major need of some sleep!

color crushing : blueberry + grapefruit

so, i typically do a color post of some sort on tuesdays...

which i have always titled as "tuesday huesday"...

but something compelled me to change it to "color crushing" 

i felt so inspired from my citrus fruits post last week, 

i think i actually developed  a bit of a crush on the palette...

i even set the image on my desktop!

here's to a fabulous weekend : GOOD TIMES

hello, my bloggy friends : )

how was your weekend?

i am wishing my monday was a funday...

i had such a fantastic weekend, i just didn't want it to end!

here is a photo recap...really, it is just saturday, 

but that seems to be the day that everything happened this weekend : )

dan & i took it easy on saturday...

don't ask me why, but i was up until 5AM from friday night to saturday morning

...i got a big-time creative bug and just couldn't sleep!...

so, i got a super late start to saturday...

we took advantage of the sunshine and decided to take a stroll down to 

a couple of close-by plant nurseries...

the first was the indoor sun shoppe, 

where they specialize in succulents, ferns and other plants that would 

never survive outdoors in the damp, chilly pacific northwest

{there was even a venus fly trap...look closely & you will see its victim!} 

we then mosied on to emerald city garden...

a super cute boutique nursery...

just look at how adorable it is!

we picked up a few herbs and pretty flowering plants : )

{i am starting to get that perfect summer porch in order!}

it was one of our best friend's birthday...

unfortunately, due to uncooperative weather, there was no picnic in the park w/ a pinata for the birthday boy {as originally planned}, 

 ...but plan b - dinner @ the brave horse tavern - was just fine & dandy!... 

it has become a tradition for me to make him a very special birthday card every year...

i usually don't know what i am going to do until the last minute {creative crunch time!}

so, this is what i came up with {on top of the wrapped gift, of course}  : )

i am thinking about doing a little tutorial on this one sometime soon!

{i used cardstock, coffee filters, paint & natural cotton ribbon}

and then it was karaoke time!!!

we all belted our hearts out : )

the classics were sung...

rick astley / never gonna give it up, erykah badu / tyrone,

{my signature karaoke song} 4 non-blondes / what's up, the smiths / this charming man ...

and many, many, many more!

and, BONUS: after-hours dancing!!!

then, dan & i continued on to a 4AM breakfast @ thirteen coins...

a local late night/early morning breakfast spot :)

yep...another 5AMer!!! 

{i can't remember the last time i had one super late night like that, let alone two in a row!}

saturday really couldn't have been a better night...

it was just one of those surreal times that i will always remember...

it was GOOD TIMES had by all!

which, makes me want to share {what i call} my signature song with you...

not my signature karaoke song, 

but a favorite song that {i like to think} defines my attitude towards life ; )

i am just full of goodies today :)

i have been wanted to link up for some time now with monica's 'joy pockets'

regardless of how busy & crazy life is,

my week was definitely a bit tough,

can you believe that it is nearly the weekend??!!

any big plans?

i just have a good friend's birthday party...

which involves a picnic, a piñata & karaoke at our favorite japanese-style karaoke spot!

so, perhaps it's all of the time that i spent with mother nature last weekend...

{i can't say for sure}

but my eye is feeling very drawn to the au naturel this week!

so, i have a little sneak peak into the camping weekend...

unfortunately, my phone died the first night...

so i have yet to get more pics from my friend.

an AMAZING surf & turf style dinner, complete with...

prawns, top loin, grilled portobellos & bell peppers, sweet potato, corn on the cob w/ a veganaise cumin-lime glaze, cilantro pesto quinoa & greens with a balsamic vinaigrette...

like i said before...we camp in style!!!

 and this is just the beginning!
