hello, friends!
how are you on this lovely thursday?
it feels so good to be here to deliver an official post to you all this week :)
i thought that i would play a little game of catch up with you
to get you up to speed on some projects i have recently been working on...
so this is going to be a bit of a mash-up of a post,
blending a couple of my typical week's topics...
so, bear with me :)
let's go...
>> party time <<
a friend asked me for my design / cooking help with a party he threw last saturday...
{which i said yes to, of course! i love party planning! & i had free reign to do as i pleased!}
which was meant to be a "summer lawn game party"
{croquet, bocce ball...all the good stuff}
but wouldn't you know...
that was the ONE day that it rained cats & dogs...
all morning & afternoon long!
no worries, though...
ALWAYS have a plan B
{especially in seattle in june!}
my initial plan B was to get astro turf and bring the party inside :)
but once decided our time-frame was too short, our plan B became the garage...
not ideal, but boy did we make it happen!!!
and the party was a total success!
take a look...
>> pulled carnitas pork sandwiches on grilled buns<<
>> shredded mango chipotle chicken sandwiches on grilled buns<<
>> condiments: bbq sauce, mayo & cilantro <<
>> quinoa salad with cucumber, grapefruit & mint <<
>> slaw w/ apples, purple cabbage, carrots, red peppers, onion & cilantro <<
>> berry salad w/ crème fraîche, vanilla & honey <<
1 tip:
> grill those buns! {it adds love}
>> "berry~licious" sangria: grenache, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, granny smith apple, oj <<
>> "bahama mama" sangria: sauvignon blanc, papaya, mango, kiwi, pineapple, oj <<
>> "peachy keen" sangria: white peaches, yellow peaches, cantaloupe, fuji apple, oj <<
>> summer brews <<
2 tips:
1 > squeeze your own oj for the sangria! {makes a difference, in my opinion!}
2 > sangria + mason jars + straws = potent & dangerous!
details are such a key piece of the puzzle...they pull it all together!
>> i used a few different prints throughout and i wanted a way to put them all together so that they felt
cohesive...so i used scraps of fabric to make an adorable banner {that is now hanging in my kitchen!
>> above the table, i hung vases and picked some flowers from the yard to bring the outdoors in
>> it's a hard one to see {i forgot to get a close-up} but if you look closely at the bottom left picture, there is
a pop of the top of the ladle handle that i dan spray painted orange...along with the cans that held the
forks, napkins & straws}
>> i happened to have some fun colorful strings of lights that went perfectly with the theme!
>> the campfire <<
the rain stopped {finally} in the late afternoon...
so {in true pacific northwest style} a campfire was lit...in the driveway
and marshmallows were roasted to make the perfect s'mores!
it was a perfect party :)
>> sunday shopping <<
on sunday, dan spent the day with his uncle for father's day
{he is very much dan's "father figure"}
so, i decided that it would be nice to catch up with his aunt
& discuss wedding planning over a bottle of wine :)
she decided that we MUST go to this little vintage shop nearby her house...
so off we went!
& boy, oh boy! did we have some fun!!!
just look at all of the goodies we found for my wedding :)
she was so kind to buy all of the drinking glasses for me... she said
"it's time to get this party started, baby!"
{can't blame her...everyone has been waiting a looooooong time for this wedding!}
i am starting to see my vision come together, little by little :)
{let the collecting begin!!!}
ahhh...
now i can sleep well :)
now...
look forward to that road trip recap post on saturday!
{as i will be participating in friday's fancies on friday}
it will be the grand finale of the week :)
have a fantastic day, everyone!
xoxoxo
