thursday : let's get cozy

hello, all! so, i don't have thursday pearls, again...i hope you all aren't too disappointed, but i have decided to open up my thursdays to be a little more random :)

so, i don't know about everyone else out there, but it is getting pretty chilly here in seattle...there is even talk of a bit of snow on monday! hello, winter...see you later, fall :( although winter is not my favorite season, there is something to be said about all of the cozy goodness that goes with it! bundling up, sitting by the fire, drinking hot toddies, cashmere, chunky sweaters and scarves...i just love to be cozy! 

so, here is a little sampling of some things that are on my cozy wishlist...

WEDnesday : lusting for lovely florals

hello, all! we've made it...half way through the week! and do i have a lovely treat for you :) who out there does not appreciate the beauty of flowers? i just can't resist a gorgeous bundle of blooms! and although flowers are not completely necessary at a wedding (i have seen many photos of wedding sans flowers and the events were still gorgeous!), but they definitely know how to make a statement... so i fully intend on having them make an appearance at my event!

tuesday huesday : wintry hues

we still have another month to go until winter, but the traces of fall evidence are already quickly disappearing...this makes me shiver at the thought of chillier weather approaching...but it also makes me happy to think about cozy sweaters, hot cocoa and fireplaces :) and, anyways, all i can do is embrace it...because ready or not...winter is on its way!

monday : the white series, pt. 2 (keep it interesting)

hello monday & hello all! I hope that you all had a lovely weekend :) i certainly did...dan's and my portland get-a-way was a success! we ate and drank ourselves merry! we saw some live music - junip & sharon van etten - both absolutely amazing bands! if they are coming through your area, i highly recommend seeing them. we took photobooth pictures :) i got a fabulous $25 facial at the aveda institute (ahhh...pure rejuvenation)! 

  ...but here i am now, back at home...one more day until i jump back into total reality (back to work)...

i will tell you what, though...a three day mini-break really does a lot for you. my head is feeling a little more clear and i am definitely very well rested! i've told dan that we must do that more often!

  okay, thanks for listening :) now, i will move onto what i am really here for...posting the monday goods! if you saw last monday, i decided to dedicate a little blogging love to white. last week was all about white bedrooms. this week, i've gathered some images of white decor that shows great details of texture, layers & various shades of white from warm to cool. i think that when using white, it is key to keep it interesting. i just love the tea-stained doilies in images 3 & 5, the coziness of the textured throw & pillow against the industrial backdrop in image 2 & the vintage glow of the lanterns against the white-washed weathered brick in image 4...these all make just stunning statements! 

  p.s. have i mentioned yet that i am just dying to own a place with exposed brick walls? this is one of my absolute favorite details!

foodie fridays : portland does it right!

happy friday all!!! dan and i are headed to portland and have food on the brain :) i am keeping this entry as a quickie because i have to hit the hay to be up in 5 hours to catch a train! so, here is a little sampling of a couple of my favorite portland spots that we will be hitting up...

andina...oh how i love your deeelicious peruvian-styled scallops & oh, oh, oh...that spicy & sweet sacsayhuaman cocktail (first on my to-do list upon arrival, second is oysters)!!! see you saturday @ 8:30pm sharp ;D

and mother's...i have a hot brunch date with you Sunday @ 11:30...please be prepared to serve up your best eggs benedict & bloody marys...xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

we will also definitely be checking out the food carts (we've never done that!)...and we are finally checking out kenny & zukes delicatessen (highly recommended by mina, the super foodie)...and just for dan we will pop by voodoo doughnuts (he says that he MUST try the bacon maple doughnut)... i am reconsidering all the skinny jeans i just packed! have a fabulous weekend, everyone!!!

hi all! this is a very late thursday posting...sorry for that :( i haven't had much time to prepare the thursday & friday posts because dan & i are getting ready to head out for a long weekend in portland (or)!!! so, i hope you will accept this super cool image in place of the weekly pearls :) i hope that it will inspire someone in some way or another... enjoy!!!

WEDnesday : my wedding wishlist, so far...

hello everyone! happy half-way through the week day :) i have decided to take a moment to pull together all of my favorite wedding ideas  to keep a more organized list...a visual wish list, per say...of the details that i am loving for my wedding. i am sure that things may change a little over time, but it will at least keep me from feeling a little less overwhelmed as i go along this crazy path of wedding planning :) so, here are my favorite things, so far...

wow! did monday fly by or what? usually this time change makes everything seem to slow down, but not today...it was a very busy monday, indeed! well, with that said...welcome, tuesday :) what hues do you bring us today?

welcome back, everyone :) happy monday...i hope you all had a lovely weekend! mine was spent mostly catching up on my zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs...feeling much better rested now.

perhaps it is the bride-to-be in me, perhaps it is thoughts of winter and snow...i just  can't help but have white on the brain! i absolutely love white decor...especially an all white bedroom...it  just feels so clean and inviting. i am actually looking for inspiration for my own bedroom, as it is the one room that i don't love that seems the most important to love. so i am on a mission to create a beautiful bedroom!

also, because i love white so much, i am dedicating monday entries to showcase a "white series" over the next few weeks, where you can find inspirations of all things lovely & white. here is the first part of the series...sweet dreams!

foodie fridays : doing it chicago style

friday, friday, friday!!! happy, happy friday, all!!! let me tell you...even though i am writing this 4 days before friday, i am so happy that friday is finally here...by the time this posting goes live, i will barely be alive...i will be on my 3rd overnighter...counting down the minutes until i hop on that plane home!

sorry...i went on a little tangent there :) so, i am going to keep this posting short & sweet (or savory, rather)...i admit it - i am a thin crust pizza lover any given day of the week, but while in chicago...you'd better serve it to me chicago style...deep dish & the sauce on top, please!

thursday pearls : rain, rain...stay a little while

 

hello, all :) it's thursday...and you know what that means...i have some pearls for you! 

i have to tell you...i really do love the rain. i guess that is part of why seattle will forever have my heart. there is just something so romantic about the rain, don't you think? don't get me wrong, it can be rather annoying when it rambles on and on, week after week...but a few rainy days here provide the perfect background for getting cozy on the couch with a blanket and a book...or for doing something creative around the house...or just for drinking a cup of warm sleepy time tea (with milk) and then drifting off to sleep...

in honor of my love for rain, i have gathered some optimistic quotes on the subject...

happy WEDnesday, all! i am so pleased to bring you a little something special today :) i have been having such a difficult time finding wedding invitations that i can really fall in love with...until now...

i just stumbled across the most unique invitations i have seen yet, on bird and banner... individually printed vintage handkerchiefs...and that totally great packaging?...i am IN LOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVE!!! especially considering my love for vintage scarves, this idea seems just perfect...and so lovely, too! (some of these hankies even remind me of some of my vintage scarves)

a very random monday : take a walk with me (an ode to fall)

monday, monday...back so soon? oh well, what can we do? 

i hope you all had a great weekend :) i don't know about everyone out there, but we are having a LOVELY fall so far...sure there have been a few glum days, but we have had some absolutely gorgeous days, too. fall is truly my favorite season...i'm a fall baby, what can i say? :)

so, to start this week out on a happy foot, i thought that i would bring you along on a little nature walk with me...
as i mentioned last wednesday, dan & i were celebrating our anniversary...well, the day ended up being one of those absolutely gorgeous days, so we decided to go on a little stroll. the stroll was just through our neighborhood, but we came across so many beautiful & interesting autumn pleasantries (it's really just part of the deal of living in the great northwest!). we ended up having a nature photo shoot to capture these pleasantries...
come along, i'll show you...

a little off the beaten path, we came across the yellow brick road...

i can only imagine that it leads to the emerald city? (seattle, of course!)

then, we saw lots of gorgeous fall trees...

i just love trees, i really do :)

and we even came across this little guy (or girl?)...

 then, amongst the leaves of golden yellows, copper oranges & red hot reds...

this pretty little purple misfit showed her face along with her little green friends...

but we witnessed a spider having its lunch!

 and then, in the middle of our regular old neighborhood, 

we came across this little community garden...

i have walked by here a dozen times and never noticed it before!

they had kale

oh! that's dan & me in the garden...hello :)

and they were even growing forks! 

(i always wondered how they made the biodegradable utensils!)
